Aims. Microbiome gives researchers across medicine, ecology, agriculture, and environmental science a single venue that doesn't force artificial boundaries between human and environmental microbiome research — reflecting how the field's most interesting findings increasingly cross that line.

Scope. The journal covers:

• Human gut, oral, skin, and vaginal microbiome research
• Host-microbiome interactions and their role in disease and immunity
• Microbiome-based diagnostics and therapeutics (including fecal microbiota transplantation, probiotics, and postbiotics)
• Environmental and soil microbiomes
• Plant and agricultural microbiomes
• Marine and aquatic microbial ecology
• Microbiome bioinformatics, metagenomics, and computational methods
• The built environment and urban microbiomes
• Methodological and reproducibility challenges in microbiome research

Article types. Original research, methods papers, and critical reviews.
